Networking lays a foundation for understanding computer networks, how they operate, the components that make up a network, and the technologies that make our interconnected world possible– all the knowledge and skills necessary to build a deeper understanding to enter the cybersecurity workforce. Networking not only introduces concepts and skills to students, but it also prepares them to verify their technical know-how through the CompTIA Network+ certification.
Course Objectives
• Understand the vocabulary and concepts of computer networking (lessons) • Practice a range of networking skills (labs)
• Have a deeper understanding of how networks underpin our connected society (activities)The content in the Networking course is built toward the CompTIA Network+ certification exam because it is an industry-recognized, vendor-agnostic certification. Additionally, it is a credential approved by a variety of state departments of education. The course introduces all the Network+ objectives N10-008 as well as reinforcing the content with labs and activities to practice the course content. Students are encouraged to obtain the certification making them significantly more marketable as they pursue careers after high school.
