Ms. Liptow
Welcome! A little bit about me below.
I am the Psychology and Sociology Instructor and the sponsor for the Psychology Club and Brain Bee Club. I graduated from Arizona State with a B.S. in Psychology in 2018. Go SunDevils! Now working towards my LPC for Mental health and trauma at Grand Canyon University. While at ASU, I volunteered and completed a thesis with the Neurotrauma department at Phoenix Children's Hospital/ Barrow Neurological Institute alongside interning at Hospice of the Valley for Bereavement. I was in the behavioral health field for a short time as a certified BHT, and worked closely with the SMI population and the Psychiatrist. I provided community resources to assist in coordination for those who needed it. I love teaching about the social world and seeing minds to learn to critically process the world around them. Psychology is my passion and in my class I focus on teaching the importance of self-care, problems with stigmatizing those with mental illness, empathy, and introspection to help present the social world from a more applicable perspective. I feel these areas of focus are so important for life after high school, no matter where you end up. Although psychology is my specialty, I also enjoy sociology and its importance by adding understanding of the functions of society in the development of a person. I am thrilled to teach you about the fascinating fields of social structure, behavior, and mental processes through the eyes of science. Parents, feel free to contact me via email, phone, Canvas, or Remind app. Looking forward to this exciting new year.
Thanks for stopping by,
Ms. Liptow
